The urgency of protecting and restoring nature is now undisputed. We are losing nature at an unprecedented rate, yet our lives and livelihoods depend on nature. More than $44 trillion – nearly half global GDP – relies on the goods and services that nature provides: from pollination to climate mitigation and adaptation to clean air and water.
At the root of the problem is our failure to adequately value nature. To safeguard our future prosperity and security we must act now to embed nature in our economic and financial decisions, bridge the finance gap, and shift the financial system to become nature positive.
At this flagship event in association with Stockholm +50 and supported by the Leaders’ Pledge for Nature, ministers and senior leaders from civil society and the private sector will come together to discuss how to unlock the finance that is needed to halt and reverse the loss of our vital natural assets, and accelerate the transition to a net zero and nature positive future.
This high-level meeting will provide a forum for leaders from across civil society, the private sector, and national governments to share views and experiences on how to finance the protection and restoration of nature. It will look at the different approaches to mobilising more resources for nature and aligning financial flows with the emerging Global Biodiversity Framework.
